Assistant Events Manager, temporary role, until October 2025 £16.03 plus holiday pay, Heritage Centre, Cambridgeshire

Our client, a world-renowned heritage centre requires a temporary Assistant Events Manager until October 2025 to cover Maternity leave. This is a great opportunity and is hands on, mainly working on site and using the full range of your Events logistics, Marketing and customer service capabilities. This department runs a 7 day a week operation so you will be required to work some weekends and public holidays, and occasional evenings.

Reporting to the Events Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Play a key role in the delivery of the show programme, commissioning and delivering the content, and operational and logistical delivery of key aspects of the events
  • Ensure internal and external stakeholders deliver against set briefs, budgets and to agreed timelines.
  • work with Marketing to ensure co-ordinated promotion
  • ensure logistics run smoothly during the build and derig; operational management of contractors – marquees, furniture, toilets, and public address systems. Placing orders, checking health & safety paperwork
  • supervise and motivate staff, partners and, where relevant, volunteers
  • creation of the traders’ content, sourcing and selecting traders who offer variety and add value to the overall event
  • negotiation of traders’ fees and confirmation of attendance
  • linking to the publishing team to provide content for the programmes
  • taking lead responsibility for the content within hospitality tents: ensuring they are delivered at the right quality level in relation to the ticket price and for how the product has been sold
  • work with the marketing, digital and comms teams to ensure that all event marketing – social media, the website, event map and on site signage
  • work with departments to ensure the visitor experience is thought through, considered and of high quality
  • act as first point of contact for all stakeholder departments
  • ensure the smooth running of entertainment, catering areas, on site signage and maps and an overall visitor experience programme
  • keep a full record of any performance issues and action taken; produce monthly reports for air shows as required, under guidance from the Event Manager
  • support with financial management

 

You will have a proven track record in Events Management with a strong customer focus and a practical approach to large scale consumer events.
